Joanna graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters of Physiotherapy (2008) and a Bachelor of  Physical Education and Health (High Honours, 2006).  She opened Physiohealth Studios in 2011.  Joanna has  completed courses in Active Release Techniques (ART) for both Spine and Upper Extremity, Lower Extremity Mulligan Techniques, Level 1 Acupuncture (AFCI) and Level 1 Manual Therapy.  Most recently she is a certified Level 1 Fascial Stretch Therapist.  She continues to take courses and participate in workshops to advance her clinical skills.  Her goal is to create a fully integrated health studio and strongly believes in a team approach to health care.

Joanna’s experience has primarily been in an outpatient orthopedics.  She was previously employed as head of a physiotherapy department at a private clinic and routinely worked with various health care professionals, including chiropractors, athletic therapists, massage therapists, personal trainers, naturopaths, etc.  She has treated clients for various injuries and postural issues, as well as created exercise plans for fitness related goals, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and maintenance.  Joanna also uses manual therapy, modalities, and client education in her work.

Joanna has always been an advocate of health and fitness.  After graduation, she cycled across Canada to raise money for the Herbie Fund, a children’s charity associated with Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.  She enjoys travelling, playing beach volleyball, snowboarding, camping, hiking, spending time outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.

Quinn Paulson PT, MScPT, BPHE
Registered Physiotherapist

Quinn graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a BA Honors in Kinesiology and Physical Education; he completed his MSc Physiotherapy with Distinction at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Quinn has experience in treating patients with various types of orthopaedic and sports related injuries ranging from joint sprains, muscle strains, and tendinopathies to rehabilitation for fractures and post-operative procedures. With his strong academic background, clinical experience and continuing education courses, Quinn‘s treatment philosophy uses manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and patient education to work towards achieving client-centred goals. He is committed to individualized, one-on-one treatment and developing programs that promote his patient’s return to work and the activities they enjoy. Quinn is also an avid runner and enjoys strength training, basketball and golf.

Michael Wadie PT, MScPT, B.Sc
Registered Physiotherapist

Mike Wadie completed his education at McMaster University, where he received both his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and his Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. Since graduation, he has gone on to complete additional hands-on courses in soft-tissue release, acupuncture, k-taping and postural restoration (PRI).  Mike’s treatment approach relies heavily on hands-on techniques such as soft-tissue release, joint mobilization, and PNF stretching.

Away from the clinic, you can find Mike playing all sorts of sports, but basketball is his number one. He also has a strong passion for traveling and learning languages, which he can talk about for hours! As such, Mike is conversational in French and Arabic and happy to provide you with services in these languages.

Adrianna Pirko PT, BSc, MScPT, Cert MDT

Adrianna graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters of Physiotherapy (2008) and from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (2005).  Adrianna has a particular interest in and passion for Pelvic Health Physiotherapy.  She has taken several courses enabling her to assess, treat and prevent male and female pelvic floor dysfunctions.  Adrianna has also completed her Certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy from the McKenzie Institute, is Bone Fit certified from Osteoporosis Canada and has advanced training in Sport and Therapeutic Taping, Acupuncture, Gait Analysis, and advanced Manual Therapy techniques.  Adrianna believes in active, evidence based treatment and creating individualized programs with a focus on education and self-management strategies to assist people in meeting their goals.

Adrianna has had the opportunity to practice in several settings, including managing a busy multi-disciplinary clinic, working closely with Orthopaedic Surgeons in a hospital fracture clinic and outpatient rehabilitation department, and on-field as part of the Medical Team for the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games.  In addition to treating clients at Physiohealth Studios, Adrianna also acts as a medical consultant for a large insurance company.  Adrianna is an avid rock climber, ice climber and alpinist.  In her free time she travels around the world looking for the next crack, frozen waterfall or mountain to climb.

Dr. Tom McGee DCBSc
Chiropractor

Dr. Tom McGee is a graduate of New York Chiropractic College (2006). He has worked with family physicians, physiotherapists, massage therapists, and other health care professionals to provide the ideal treatment for patients ranging from chiropractic manipulation and soft tissue therapy to dietary modifications and lifestyle changes. He has worked with elite Ontario youth and college baseball players, volleyball players, swimmers, and hockey players helping improve strength, conditioning, and rehabilitation of sports injuries.

Dr. Tom has been the lead chiropractor and clinic director of two rehabilitation clinics specializing in post-traumatic injury rehabilitation while continuing to maintain a private practice outside of the city. He has certifications in chiropractic and soft tissue techniques including Diversified technique, Nimmo trigger point therapy, and Graston soft tissue therapy. Along with his technique certifications, Dr. Tom holds certifications for several different types of post-traumatic injury assessments.

In what little spare time he has, Dr. Tom has enjoyed coaching and training youth baseball players, as well as authoring a shoulder strengthening manual for baseball players.

Dr. Rebecca Kang DC

Dr. Rebecca Kang graduated Cum Laude from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. She has worked closely with family physicians, rheumatologists, physiotherapists, message therapists, Clinical Science and Sports Sciences Fellows, and various other health care professionals to provide the best care for her patients. She has been certified in clinical acupuncture and mental health first aid. She provides evidence-based care and utilizes various techniques including adjustments, soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation, and acupuncture.

Dr. Kang has worked in a community centered clinic as well as at St. Michael’s Hospital; she has experience in treating a variety of conditions and patients ranging from musculoskeletal conditions, post-operative rehabilitation, pregnancy related musculoskeletal complaints, and geriatric patients. She strives to provide patient centred care through her skills in manual therapy, rehabilitation, modalities, and patient education. As an advocate of health Dr. Kang is dedicated to help her patients live the most functional life as possible.

Dr. Andreia Horta ND

Dr. Andreia Horta graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (2012).

Previously, she completed a B.A. Honors in Psychology, with her thesis in Anorexia, Bulemia and Disordered Eating Habits. She then went on to complete a Communications Specialist Degree at York University. She is certified as a Level One Reiki therapist (Japanese Energy Work), Personal Training Specialist and as a Health Care Practitioner in Emergency Services.

Dr. Horta has previous externship experience working in an HIV Clinic and Public Community Centers. The latter focused on mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, and detoxification. She has had success with the following concerns; weight loss, digestive issues, stress management, smoking cessation and sleep issues. In joining the PhysioHealth team her goal will be to support both the patients and team using the following modalities; Nutrition, Lifestyle Modifications, Herbs, Acupuncture and Counselling. Moreover, she has a keen interest in all pain or injury related concerns.

Cameron MacIntyre ND, BSc
Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Cameron MacIntyre ND graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (2020) and from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in Chemistry (2016).

Since graduation, Cameron has gone on to complete additional courses to address musculoskeletal concerns. He holds certifications in fascial stretch therapy from the Stretch To Win Institute, and in the Graston Technique. Cameron also utilizes techniques such as acupuncture with electrical stimulation, manual therapy, and modalities including therapeutic ultrasound & laser therapy.

Cameron primary works with orthopaedic disorders and with sports related injuries. He sees both acute and chronic conditions ranging from sprains and strains to various tendinopathies. His treatments often include hands soft tissue therapy, therapeutic exercise prescriptions and the utilization of modalities depending on the clients goals.

As a Naturopathic doctor Cameron also has extensive training in supplements and nutraceuticles. He provides tailored plans for his patients to address their personal goals. These plans may include supplement and botanical prescriptions, blood work for gastrointestinal sensitivities and nutritional deficiencies, and dietary/lifestyle recommendations.

Adina Nistor RP
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Adina has a Masters of Arts in Counselling from Yorkville University and a Masters of Science in Health Psychology from the University of Bath in the UK. Adina took a special interest in Somatic Therapy and has training and certification in The Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM). CRM is a trauma therapy model that can treat a wide range of issues such as Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Impulsivity, Emotional Dysregulation, and more. Beyond working with the general population, Adina also has experience working with Addictions and Motor Vehicle Accidents.

She believes that healing occurs when the body and the brain enter a state of safety and relaxation.  At this point, painful, stressful, and perhaps traumatic material becomes conscious in a way that the brain can process the information and release the pain. Once this happens, the body no longer needs to consume energy to repress, manage or distort those unwanted emotions.

Adina is warm and adopts a non-judmental approach any problem.

Outside of work, she loves singing and enjoys long walks in nature with her dog, Ryder.

Edan Tasca

Edan started his career in psychology as a writer and editor for Multi-Health Systems Inc., a major publisher of psychological assessments. Since completing a master’s degree in counseling psychology in 2016, he has been working with patients from the general population as well as patients of motor vehicle accidents who’ve suffered significant trauma and resultant PTSD. When he isn’t obsessing over his fantasy baseball team, he’s either watching boxing or working out in the hopes of one day being half as fit as a boxer.  Edan offers both virutal and in-person appointments.

Zev Farkas RP
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Zev graduated from Yorkville University with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology
(MACP). He has experience in both clinical settings and private practice working with clients of
all ages, ethnicities, and presenting concerns. He specializes in anxiety and mood disorders,
dysfunctional behaviour patterns, and relationship issues. Zev uses an integrated model of
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and
Emotion-focused therapy (EFT) to help clients get deeper in touch with themselves and their
mental health. He believes strongly in viewing a client’s presenting concern through a
biopsychosocial lens. This view encompasses the physical, emotional, and social makeup of
each unique individual. Most importantly, his non-judgmental stance and warm and caring
demeanor are the hallmarks of his accepting attitude toward his clients. On his time off, he loves

Mara graduated from Sheridan College with a Bachelor of Applied Health Science (Athletic Therapy) with Honours in 2007, a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University in 2003 and a Diploma in Massage Therapy from Ontario College of Health Technology in 2016.   She is trained in manual techniques such as Mulligans, soft tissue release and Myofasical Release.

For the past six years Mara has been working as a Certified Athletic Therapist and most recently as a Registered Massage Therapist with top junior and professional tennis players while covering ITF and Tennis Canada sanctioned events. She traveled internationally with Canada’s Wheelchair Tennis Team and Canada’s Women’s and U19 Women’s National Floorball Teams. Mara worked as a therapist in Tennis for the Pan Am Games and as the Lead Medical Practitioner for Wheelchair Tennis at the Parapan Am Games in Toronto.   This year she will be the Lead Medical Practitioner for Wheelchair Tennis at the 2017 Invictus Games.

Sean is an Athletic Therapist and Registered Massage Therapist experienced in manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation.  Holding a degree in Kinesiology and a certificate in Athletic Therapy from York University, Sean is also a Certified First Responder with further qualifications in Soft Tissue Release and Muscle Energy Techniques.  Additionally, Sean completed his diploma in massage therapy at the Royal Canadian College of Massage Therapy.

Sean has experience in a vast array of settings, treating clients from all ranges of life. Whether you’re a high-performance athlete recovering from ACL surgery, a mechanic with lower-back pain, or a retired accountant with a sore shoulder, Sean is ready to meet your healthcare needs!

While at York University, Sean was an accomplished athlete, playing Right Tackle for both the York Lions Varsity Football Team and the Canadian National Football Team.  In his spare time, Sean continues to enjoy an active lifestyle while keeping up on the latest techniques in orthopedic rehabilitation.

Wendy Jans RMT

Wendy graduated with honours from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Toronto in 2007.  Her passion and ongoing quest to help others feel their best has led her to a career in massage therapy.  Wendy’s treatment goals are to establish a connection with her clients, address the underlying cause of their symptoms, bring relief of pain and discomfort, and education on injury prevention and health maintenance.

In her practice Wendy draws from the many techniques she has learned, including deep tissue and sports massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, joint play, Swedish massage and stretching and relaxation techniques.  This allows her to design an individual and unique massage treatment that fits the needs of each client, from sports enthusiasts to the general population.  She has been described by clients as the therapist who “finds all the spots!”

Caroline Seto RMT

Caroline Seto graduated from Sutherland-Chan Teaching School in 2007.  She has over 13 years experience in treating a variety of conditions through massage therapy.  She has a keen interest in all aspects of massage therapy treatments and continually updates her techniques. Commonly treated condtitions include sciatica, headaches, and tennis elbow, just to name a few!

Caroline is currently pursuing a certification in cranial sacral therapy.  This therapy would work in conjunction with Massage Therapy to provide optimal results for her clients.

Chris is a Personal Trainer/Performance Coach with 14 years of experience having worked with and developed relationships with a wide variety of clientele of high performing working professionals (CEO’s, Lawyer’s, traders, architects, financial techs, etc.), developmental-,youth- and Olympic-level athletes and coaches (baseball and hockey players, curlers, freestyle skiers, track and field athletes and wrestlers), TV show hosts, housewives of Yorkville, first-responders, and many injured people looking to rehab and/or re-establish previous strength and conditioning levels.

Chris’ passion is working with individuals with a variety of goals such as weight-loss or weight-gain (transformation programs), strength training, re-establishing and surpassing previous strength and conditioning levels, and helping one/clients achieve levels of performance they previously never thought possible.

Chris has an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Brock University, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada and a master’s degree in Exercise Science with a specialization in Strength and Conditioning from Edith Cowan University in Joondalup, Western Australia, Australia. Adrian is a Personal Trainer/Performance coach with over 15 years of experience working with a wide range of clientele. Adrian holds an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science from the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario. Additionally, Adrian holds certifications from EXOS (performance specialist), FRC (functional range conditioning), PN 1 (Precision Nutrition) and NASM – CPT (national academy of sports medicine) and is active in in-field continuing education, currently enrolled in PN 2 (Precision Nutrition).

Ms. Lydia Hou has been a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner since 1984 after receiving her degree in China.  Since then, she has practiced TCM in both hospital and clinic settings in China, the United States, and Canada.  She holds certifications from various regulatory bodies, including R.Ac Ontario, R.Ac Alberta, Certified and Designated Diplomat in Acupuncture and TCM by the UN National Certification and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and Certified Acupuncturist and Herbalist by the California Medial Board.  She earned the title of “senior TCM physician” in China with her extensive years of experience.

She is committed to continuous professional development and using the latest and best technologies and techniques for her patients to achieve the maximum benefit.  Recently, she has started using the FSN needling technique to treat musculo-skeletal pain with very good results after 1-3 treatments.

Ms. Hou is a published author of articles on mind and body wellness in scientific public health journals in China.  She has a special interest in the relationship between mental and physical health.  Ms. Hou offers treatments for pain, arthritis, sports injuries, nervous system conditions, Raynaud’s Syndrome, IBS, stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, headaches, fatigue, infertility, hormonal imbalances, weight control, immune function, post chemo/radiation recovery, and much more.

Jessica Ye R.AC
Registered Acupuncturist

Jessica Ye is a compassionate and dedicated practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) who loves helping people improve their mental and physical well-being. Her journey started with a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology from Western University, driven by a deep curiosity about how the mind and body connect. A summer visit with family introduced her to the natural, hands-on healing practices of TCM, inspiring her to pursue this path further.

Jessica went on to earn her TCM Diploma at John & Jenny TCM College (JJTCM) in Canada and gained hands-on experience through clinical internships at Guangdong TCM Hospital and JJTCM. In her practice, she uses a variety of TCM techniques, including acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, guasha, and tuina, herbs to create personalized treatments for her clients.

She has worked with clients dealing with issues like muscle pain and stiffness, sciatica, lumbago, herniated disc, fatigue, insomnia, weight management, mental stress, menopausal symptoms, and gynecological concerns such as irregular or painful menstruation.

Jessica is always looking to grow her skills and knowledge to better support her clients on their journey to better health and balance.

Ada Kate Wight MOMSc (Osteo)
Osteopathic Manual Practitioner

Ada Kate is a graduate of the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO) in Hamilton Ontario, where she received her Master in Practice Diploma of Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences (M.OMSc) and she is a great enthusiast of all things outdoors. She has a keen interest in wellness in general, beginning with a life long yoga practice and a deep respect for the potential of the body.

The principles of osteopathy speak to the body’s ability to self heal and self regulate under the right conditions and Ada Kate wants to support patients through individualized care that is appropriate for that person, at that moment. Supporting/improving quality of life and feeling well prepared for whatever the future holds are key goals in Ada Kate’s approach to osteopathy. She wants patients to feel empowered and informed about their bodies, and as such endeavours to include that education in her treatment room.

Mary Habbous 
Receptionist

Mary used to do home daycare for almost 26 years.  She retired for almost 4 years after that (doing casual social media work on the side), and now works part time as a receptionist for Physiohealth Studios.  She also helps out with administration and various other tasks behind the scenes.

In her own words:

“You can say that I am the only old, ancient person here among the young, professional and friendly staff. So please bear with me for the long haul, (as I will make mistakes along the way),  but I will do my best to accommodate every person to the best of my ability.  After a very, very long time at home, I am now learning about invoices, files, phone interactions as well as dealing with people, which I really enjoy. I assure you that I’ll do my best to do a good job as a receptionist, and if for any reason I cannot help you, I’ll certainly make sure that a qualified person gets the message without delay.”

In her spare time, Mary plays table tennis and loves reading.  She especially enjoys articles about law, food, politics, and science.

Katrina Tapang 
Receptionist and Administrative Assistant

Katrina is a graduate from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. She previously worked in positions that involved research and marketing, during school, but has taken an interest in integrated health. She is passionate about helping others and good customer service. In her free time she enjoys art and various sports such as: strongman, powerlifting, and dance.
